Fabrizio Romano: Alisson signs new Liverpool contract


Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker will sign a new five-year deal, according to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

An agreement should be in the final phase, with the final details of the deal and the clauses likely to be clarified in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old moved from Roma to Liverpool in the summer of 2018 on a six-year contract.

Alisson is only halfway through that deal, with three years remaining, but he deserves a new deal as it has been instrumental in the Reds’ recent successes.

Liverpool won the 2018/19 Champions League thanks to brilliant form and he was also impeccable in goal to help Jurgen Klopp’s men finally win a Premier League title in 2019-20.

The Brazil international failed to help in his attempt to defend the title last season but nonetheless played a huge role in securing a spot in the Champions League after nearly missing out on the competition.

As a result, he was awarded Liverpool’s Goal of the Season and he certainly deserves an upgraded contract.

The Anfield team aim to compete for every trophy available in 2021-22 and can count on their excellent goalkeeper.
