Watford tries to trick Blackburn Rovers into selling Adam Armstrong by offering cash plus striker Andre Gray.
That is what Alan Nixon of the sun says, who immediately receives “hardly a day in football without someone uttering nonsense” in our pubic hall.
Nixon has had many previous experiences with rovers after spending multiple transfer windows unsettling Jordan Rhodes while he was at Ewood Park.
He’s been back with Armstrong for the past few months and has linked him with a variety of Premier League clubs.
His most recent attempt to guess Armstrong’s future destination is perhaps his most ridiculous attempt yet.
Nixon claims Watford hopes Blackburn will like Gray as part of the deal. “Really?”
A quick look at Gray’s scoring record over the past four seasons should tell anyone with half a brain why Rovers shouldn’t be tempted.
He’ll likely have decent money at Watford too – Rovers don’t have two pennies to rub up.
However, it’s the two seasons before that time that fully explain why Nixon lives here in Dreamland.
Gray played for Burnley – he did pretty well. But he played for Burnley, and that makes him a no-go for Rovers.
If you think Everton fans were snooty when Rafa Benitez was named manager, check out what happens when Gray shows up at Ewood Park.
Another major factor that Nixon overlooked is Gray’s fiancée, Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
Imagine the look on the Little Mix singer’s face when she tells her she’s moving to Blackburn. That would go down really well.
Nixon’s latest Armstrong nonsense should be stuck in the trash can.
