Aston Villa is making progress on signing up with Norwich City attacker Todd Cantwell this summer, Football Insider reports.
The 23-year-old has entered the last year of his Canary Islands contract and has shown no signs of extending his stay with the club.
As such, he is likely to be sold this summer and the Villans are reportedly in advanced negotiations with the Canaries to sign him.
The Midlands team recently broke their transfer record to sign Emiliano Buendia and they are expected to bring on another player from Carrow Road.
Sports lens view:
Cantwell was linked with a move to Leeds United last summer but a deal fell through as the £ 20m price was breached.
The attacker struggled with injuries in the first half of last season, but still had a good season with six goals and eight assists from 34 games.
The Canaries recently signed Milot Rashica to cover Buendia and they may be forced to enter the transfer market for another replacement.
There are no assurances that the signings will take off from the start and they could have another tough campaign in the top division.
Meanwhile, Villa are making their transfer ambitions clear this summer and signing Cantwell could further improve their creativity in the final third.
There have been doubts about captain Jack Grealish’s future lately but it seems he might be willing to stay and support the club’s potential push for Europe.
