Clubs are still allowed to use green in their jerseys for future designs, but not as the dominant color, with the new rule also having an impact Pants and socks. It should also be noted that the new Lega Serie A specifications have no impact on goalkeepers, only on outfield players’ shirts.

The rule change mainly applies to away and third kits, with Lazio wearing an all-neon green away kit last season, while Atalanta wore a “Christmas” inspired green kit two years ago, to be released in December 2019.

Perhaps one of the most famous examples of an all green jersey in the Italian premier league is Juventus’ green third jersey for the 2014/15 season, in which Massimiliano Allegri’s men won the Scudetto and reached the Champions League final.

This squad included players like Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal, Carlos Tevez, Kingsley Coman, Giorgio Chiellini, Patrice Evra and Andrea Barzagli, while the jersey was mainly in the group match against Atletico Madrid at Vicente Calderón.

There have been some concerns that Sassuolo – with EM heroes Manuel Locatelli and Domenico Berardi – might be affected by the decision, with the brilliant nickname Watermelon peel play mostly in a black and green shirt, but Calcio and Finanza have confirmed that they are exempt from the rule.

Recently advertised Venezia, apt nickname The orange-black-greens, have returned to the top division after a 19-year absence, and they too will be relieved of drastic changes to their equipment to meet the new standards for the season after next.
