Teun Koopmeiners finally broke his silence amid Leeds United ties when speaking to Voetbal International.
Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa plans to bring the 23-year-old defensive midfielder to Elland Road this summer, according to a report by De Telegraaf.
The central midfield is clearly an area that the Argentine would like to reinforce.
It seems like he’s looking for more toughness, steel, and bite in the engine room.
AZ Alkmaar ace Koopmeiners fits in perfectly.
The Dutch international had an incredible season with AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.
In 42 games he scored 16 goals and three assists – an excellent record considering he’s a defensive midfielder.
In 31 league games he averaged 2.7 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 1.5 clears.
The Dutchman made an average of 68.8 passes per game and had an impressive completion rate of 84.7%.
Teun Koopmeiners breaks the silence
Leeds Destination spoke to Voetbal International, admitting that they are in constant dialect with their club regarding a possible move this summer:
“I’m not a player who fakes injuries or plays weird games. I told the club who I was talking to and how it was going. We were in constant close contact when clubs came forward. We have agreed that I will keep reporting how my head is doing and that they will state what they expect from me. There are clubs I could have been to. then more clubs cam. So it is a luxury problem. AZ knows which clubs are interested and want to get around the table.
Judging from the words of the Koopmeiners, he is certainly interested in moving on this summer.
The midfielder would be an exceptional addition to Leeds.
Dutch legend Marco van Basten raved about the midfielder in an interview with Voetbal Zone, describing him as a “great leader”.
Koopmeiners could be available for as little as £ 10 million this summer (The Telegraph).
Bielsa shouldn’t hesitate to bring him to Elland Road before the new season begins.
