Teun Koopmeiners admits he is in talks about a move from AZ Alkmaar this summer – but Leeds and Arsenal goal refuse to reveal which clubs are negotiating for him.
The Dutch midfielder is expected to leave the Eredivise side after seemingly outgrowing them. He has aroused a lot of interest in his services from people like Rennes, Roma and Liverpool are all named as suitors.
However, with the Roma approaching a deal to sign Granit Xhaka instead, it’s also been Arsenal that has come into the picture lately. In fact, it is reported that Koopmeiners is an Arsenal fan from his youth and is eager to move to Emirates.
There is also the small question from FC Bayern Munich. As reported in reports earlier this year, he is wanted by Julian Nagelsmann while they prepare to sell Leon Goretzke.
Atalanta from Serie A should also be there.
But Leeds has a longstanding interest in Koopmeiners and perhaps has the greatest need. Your need to strengthen Marcelo Bielsa’s midfield is obvious. Stuart Dallas impressed in this role and swept the board for the Player of the Season award. However, Leeds has always worked lightly in this area when Talisman Kalvin Phillips was absent.
Bielsa’s side has just waned six points more out of 27 possible points in his absence in the 2020/21 season.
Leeds have therefore been looking for a player who not only covers Phillips but also compliments him.
Now the player has commented on his future and suggested that a move should remain on the cards.
Speak with Voetbal International, above Football News, Koopmeiners revealed little about which club it could be.
“I’m not a player who fakes injuries or plays weird games.” Koopmeiners said.
“I told the club who I was talking to and how it was going. We were in constant close contact when clubs came forward.
“We have agreed that I will continue to report how my head is doing and that they state what they expect from me. That went very well so far.
“There are clubs I could have been to, so to speak. But then more clubs came along, that also plays a role. In this respect, it is a luxury problem that makes it difficult because you start talking and thinking again.
“Before all these discussions are scheduled, days or weeks will again pass. The reactions of the various parts also take time. But well, AZ knows which clubs are interested and want to get around the table.

Arsenal take a look at other midfielders
Koopmeiners isn’t the only midfielder the Gunners have their sights set on.
In spite of Ensuring the signing of £ 17million midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht, Mikel Arteta wants to add one more.
Arteta seems to have more ambitious goals, however, with Wolves’ Ruben Neves and Italian hero Manuel Locatelli both on their shopping lists.
However, deals for both look complicated. Wolves will charge a heavy fee for Neves while Locatelli apparently prefers Juventusalthough Arsenal has a firm approach.
As for the Koopmeiner, AZ is likely to charge a fee on the order of € 22 million (£ 18.5 million). With his deal only going to last two years, they want to sell him now before risking his value deteriorating.
