Giggs are, of course, the club’s all-time record champions, having appeared in a staggering 963 games since debuting in 1991.
Greenwood has a lot to do, of course. But interestingly enough, the youngster has played more games and scored more goals in his first three seasons than Ryan did.
Giggs played 99 times in 1990/91, 1991/92 and 1992/93, scoring 19 goals. Mason completed 105 appearances with 29 goals in 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21.
Of course, the 13-time Premier League winner played until he was 40, which allowed him to collect such overwhelming statistics. But that Greenwood’s early first-team figures at this point are comparable to greats like Ryan Giggs speaks volumes.
