Tonga‘s Pita Taufatofua went viral on social media in 2016 when he was shown at the opening ceremony of the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro.
He did the same two years later in PyeongChang, Korea, at minus degrees Celsius.
This Friday Taufatofua attended the Olympic Games for Tonga for the third time and led the Tonga delegation at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020.
Taufatofua made headlines in Rio when he performed a traditional Tongan dance known as ‘me’etu’upaki’.
He will compete in Taekwondo at these games and finished 114th and 116th in the 15 km cross-country race at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
He heads the Tonga delegation, which consists of only four participants, including himself.
