Former Genoa boss Giorgio Perinetti has insisted that Sassuolo be a midfielder Manuel Locatelli has said no to Arsenal move on several occasions, with a move to Juventus being his priority.
The Old Lady has been linked to a 23-year-old move in the past few months, but the Gunners have emerged as a potential target after their offer was confirmed by the Neroverdi.
Locatelli became a hot topic of discussion after some quite impressive appearances at the European Championships this summer, although nothing shocked those who followed him this season as the midfielder has already done enough to attract the attention of some Top teams, including the two Champions League finalists Chelsea and Manchester City, previously according to TMW, but recent reports seem to make it appear as a two-horse race where one potential suitor is way ahead of the other.
The player is believed to have made his intentions clear, which left the north London club far out of the running. However, should the old lady fail to come to an agreement with Sassuolo, this could change.
Perinetti insists Locatelli has already refused to join Arsenal with his intention of joining Juventus.
Perinetti told Sky Sport 24 (via TuttoJuve): “Locatelli has repeatedly said no to Arsenal because they want to join Juve. And Juve himself knows that he prefers the Bianconeri.
“It would be great if a player like him stayed in Italy. At Juventus he would improve the midfield, which has been in great difficulty for years. A few years ago I tried to bring him to Genoa, but I couldn’t complete the operation.
Are there any doubts that an agreement between the two sides will not be honored?
