A picturesque, sun-drenched Grödig formed the backdrop for Liverpool in their most recent pre-season friendly, which ended with a single goal and many snapshots.

Jürgen Klopp’s men traveled from their base in Saalfelden to compete against Mainz in front of 3,500 mainly red fans.

The matchup was the first 90-minute game before the new season, but traditionally it was two different XIs that hit the field in both halves.

The first was the strongest XI, with Harvey Elliott and Ibrahima Konate still fresh blood on a team littered with Klopp’s regulars.
