Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stranded at the airport when Gabon tried to enter Gambia – Off The Post

Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and his teammates from Gabon had to sleep in an airport when they tried to travel to Gambia to qualify for the Africa Cup.

Aubameyang and his compatriots reportedly had their passports confiscated when they arrived at Banjul International Airport in The Gambia last night at around 11 p.m. local time.

Despite being provided with COVID-19 test results on arrival, they underwent a lengthy immigration process that lasted several hours.

An overpriced Aubameyang posted a selfie update at 4:37 a.m. to announce that he and the rest of the team were still at the airport.

The Gunners star seemed to be killing time on his laptop while some gamers opted to sleep on the airport floor.

In a subsequent tweet he wrote in French: “It’s not going to demotivate us, but people need to know, and most importantly, that @CAF_Online is taking on this responsibility.

“2020 and we want Africa to grow, we won’t get there !!!”

He gave another update at 5:56 a.m. to confirm the crew had finally made it to their team bus.
