Everton have “now” joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for Lazio striker Joaquin Correa.
This is after Corriere Dello Sportwho claim Serie A club Correa is happy to sell this summer while the Toffees join the North London duo in the race to buy.
The report says that club president Claudio Lotito met with coach Maurizio Sarri and football director Igli Tare in Auronzo di Cadore earlier this week to discuss the transfer deal.
Cautious optimism in Arsenal’s summer transfer deal …
The general feeling of the meeting is that the squad needs some new additions and that raising funds is essential to be able to do so.
Enter Correa. The Argentine is likely to cost around € 30m, which would be enough for Lazio to sign some new signings.
Earlier this month it was reported that Correa would cost more like € 50 millionbut this more recent report says otherwise.
Arsenal recently tied Emile Smith Rowe to a new long-term contract but are still in the market for an attacking midfielder.
You’ve been linked to the likes of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and the Leicester City Talisman James Maddison, but Correa is an option, albeit an unlikely one.
Spurs, on the other hand, seem to prioritize signings in other positions.
The North Londoners gave the signing of goalkeeper Gianluigi Collini. known today and also have a change in mind for his ex-Atalanta team-mate Cristian Romero.
Versatile defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is another name that is linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Even so, the club’s sports director, Fabio Paratici, is apparently a big fan of Correa.
Everton has been very active in the transfer market this week, Confirmation of three signatures.
Asmir Begovic, Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend have all moved to Goodison Park, but the toffees are far from finished this summer.
There was a small or no transfer fee associated with each transfer, which suggests that a move with a lot of money is out of the question for Correa.
A big sale at the club, however, could change their attitude.
One name that has been commonly associated with moving from Merseyside is Richarlison.
New boss Rafael Benitez has announced that he was “in contact” with the Brazilian. He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, the 2020/21 striker impressed when he was involved in ten goals in his 34 Premier League games for Everton.
Ancelotti has since returned to Madrid to replace Zinedine Zidane. TThe Italian has reportedly contacted Richarlison about a move to La Liga.
