According to Football Insider, Bayern Munich could try to sign Chelsea striker Timo Werner this summer.
The German international was regularly linked with Bayern last summer before moving from RB Leipzig to the Blues for 53 million euros.
He scored 12 goals and 15 assists from 51 games last season but was still disappointing as he missed several scoring opportunities.
A recent report alleged that Werner is considering his blues future and could leave the club if they sign a new striker this summer.
It has been suggested that he would prefer a return to the Bundesliga and Bayern have now been credited with renewed interest in signing.
The club is aiming for a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski, while coach Julian Nagelsmann wishes to see Werner again.
Sports lens view:
Werner was badly graduating in his debut season and that has pushed the Blues to pursue another elite striker this summer.
The 25-year-old can play across the board too, but he has had most of his success in his career in the top position.
His playing time could be affected by a new striker. It won’t come as a surprise if he leaves the blues after a season.
Bayern have long been admirers of Werner and their chances of signing him could be increased by the presence of Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann led Werner only for one season (2019/2020) in Leipzig. With an impressive record of 34 goals and 13 assists from 45 games, he got the best out of him.
Werner regularly played in a front two. He could forge a terrifying partnership with Lewandowski next season if he can get back to shape.
Werner still has four years in the blues contract. He is valued at € 65million by Transfermarkt and the club could try to make a quick profit with him.
