The newly appointed chief executive of Okwawu United, Samuel Anim Addo, has called on club fans to leave the top rally behind to change the fate of the team.
Ghana Football Association Executive Board member Sammy Anim Addo was named chairman of the Nkawkaw club on Thursday 9 September.
He heads a five-person board that includes Kingsley Adofo-Addo as secretary, Yaw Obeng [Finance Director], Emmanuel Akoto-Bamfo [Marketing and Corporate Director] and Prince Boateng [Operations Director].
The club’s patron, Kwahuhene Dasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, has tasked the board with restructuring the former Ghanaian Premier League regular.
Part of the press release published on Thursday, September 9, 2021 read: “The board is expected to return the club to its former enviable position as a powerhouse in Ghanaian football competing in the elite league.”
However, in an interview with Accra’s Hot FM, Anim Addo urged club fans to help the board restore lost fame.
“Yes, it is true that I was named Okwahu CEO by Dasebere Akuamoah Agyapong ii (Kwahuhene),” he affirmed
“I will urge every Okwahu local to come and support the team so that the lost glory can come back. The plan is to bring Okwahu utd back to the prime minister, ”he concluded.
Okwahu United was second in the Ghana FA Cup in 2016 as a Division One club, but has since been relegated to the third division of Ghanaian football.
You were one of the giants of Ghanaian football in the 1980s and represented the country on a continental level.
They made it into the second round of the CAF Cup winners’ trophy in 1987 and were eliminated in the first round in 2001.
The club has produced multiple talents including Mohammed Gargo and CK Akonnor.
Several great coaches in Ghana have spearheaded the Nkawkaw-based team, some of the top coaches running Okwahu are Sam Arday, Herbert Addo and Jones Attuquayfio (all three coaches are running late).
