Leeds United journalist Phil Hay has revealed his belief that Kalvin Phillips is a £ 100m player.
Phillips has quickly moved from being recognized for his outstanding performance at Leeds in the championship to English Player of the Year after his start in the Euro 2020 final.
His astronomical rise over the past 12 to 18 months has been an absolute delight as Phillips is now absolutely essential for Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.
While no one with a Leeds affiliation would even want to think about selling Phillips, it’s interesting to speculate how much the club could charge if one of the big boys showed interest.
In the latest edition of the Phil Hay Podcast, Hay said that Phillips’ market value is now entering Jack Grealish territory:
“It was the thing to be a pass or two before where you need to be.”

“How you read the game and how it’s going to play, and I have a feeling that is going to get through with Phillips and he seems to be getting better all the time.”
“You are now starting to see him as a player whose value must rise somewhere near £ 100million.”
It’s hard to disagree. Phillips’ value to Leeds United is likely even higher.
It suits Leeds to rate the player so highly because it would warn all potential suitors that they will not let go of him without fighting back.
