David Haye vs. Joe Fournier preview

David Haye is back from retirement for a lucrative opportunity to win some publicity and a nice wallet at the Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort PPV on Saturday night.

The hayemaker gave up boxing in 2018 after a few heavy losses to Tony Bellew, in which the former world champion initially cited an injury but then claimed he just didn’t have what it takes to box at the highest level.

However, on Saturday night he does not box at the highest level and fights against the English businessman Joe Fournier, who is one of Hayes’ clients at Hayemaker Productions. The 38-year-old gym owner started boxing in 2015 and had a string of cherry picked fighters to hit a 9-0 professional record, but he has never met anyone of note and his last fight was at the Jake Paul vs Ben Skrew sub-map.

It’s an odd ‘master versus apprentice’ fight, but when all things are the same there should be absolutely no fight between the two fighters, one being a former heavyweight champion and the other little more than a publicity stunt.

Haye, a former BBC Sports Personality of the Year, wouldn’t risk his reputation if he didn’t feel like he could beat Fournier, and this feels like a fight chosen to put the 40-year-old back in the spotlight move back and give him a chance at far greater events in the future.

David Haye versus Joe Fournier forecast

David Haye is the better fighter in every way and unlike some other boxers who come out for a payday, the former world champion seems to take boxing seriously. He won’t want to embarrass himself and if he’s in good shape he should be frivolous of his opponent.

Bet on Haye winning in the first 4 rounds because it really shouldn’t be possible anymore. If you want higher odds, take the 11/5 on Haye on rounds 1-2.

Haye returned to win with William Hill on Rounds 1-4 of 8/11
