Leeds United are planning a move in January for Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien.
What’s the matter?
Marcelo Bielsa’s team failed in their attempts, the 22-year-olds in the summer with Phil Hay. from The Athletic reporting that whites just didn’t want to pay the money the terriers were asking for.
Football Insider has now claimed that while Elland Road Club was unable to agree on a deal before the day of the transfer deadline, talks about signing O’Brien in the January window will resume this coming week.
The report adds that the midfielder is dying to join Bielsa’s side.
Bielsa will be happy
When news of Leeds’ interest in O’Brien broke, ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell presented his seal of approval about a possible late move by the 22-year-old this summer.
He said: “You are definitely weaker without Kalvin Phillips.
“The game against Man United, I thought they would have lost without him anyway. But he’s so important to them and it’s hugely important for Leeds to have him back. But O’Brien stiffens that midfield. He’s a really, really good player. I think they will definitely try to strengthen themselves. “
Former Huddersfield shooter Matt Glennon raved about the 22-year-old’s working speed, adding: “He closes by the 95th, 96th minute, still running into corners, stopping the defenders, he has unlimited energy.
“Lewis O’Brien wants to bring in the tough yards and wants to be at the top of where he can go. He’s one of those guys who work ridiculously hard, which for me is the minimum in any league, but he has that quality, the shoulder height, the power to keep people away from him, a low center of gravity to slide past your arm high when they try to knock him off the ball.
This latest update on Leeds’ new move on the 5ft 8 dynamo is sure to delight Bielsa.
