Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said he was relieved that Cristiano Ronaldo did not join Manchester City this summer.
The Portugal international made an emotional return to Man Utd this summer after leaving Juventus and made a memorable second debut for the club when he scored two goals in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Newcastle.
Before the game, Ferguson spoke of his excitement to see Ronaldo return to Old Trafford but also expressed his relief as he couldn’t imagine the 36-year-old United legend playing for their bitter local rival Man City.
See below how the Scot also discussed his role in easing Ronaldo for a second time with the Red Devils …

United fans will no doubt be thrilled to see Ferguson still have such a powerful impact on the club, even if things have not really gone that way since he stepped down from management in 2013.
