How MFC log leaders Magesi plan to approach last five games

Magesi FC top striker Rhulani Manzini says the battle for a spot in the DStv Premiership is far from being decided.

The Limpopo province-based club are favorites to win automatic promotion as they currently sit at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings.

With only five matches remaining before the 2023/24 Season ends, the Clinton Larsen-coached side is leading the second-placed University of Pretoria FC with five points.

Opting to sign former DStv Premiership players at the beginning of the season is what set Magesi apart from the other 15 teams in the league.

But Manzini who previously plied his trade for the likes of Chippa United believes the battle is far from being won.

"There is still a lot of matches to be played, five games to go," declares Manzini, speaking to KickOff.

"In football, five games is a lot, hence we're taking it one game at a time.

"I think the coach has assembled the right players. The environment and the winning spirit that he has created in the team is very, very good, you know.

"It's a positive environment whereby players are supporting each other, there's a huge family atmosphere between those who are playing and those who are not playing," he adds.

The big marksman also reveals what has led to them becoming the surprise package of the season in the second tier.

"The coach is always pushing us at training to work hard and not be complacent.

"It's a positive effort. One game at a time. No complacency amongst the players. We are willing to work hard.

"Our team is a good mixture of experienced players and youngsters, the experienced ones are always checking on the young ones [and telling them] not to drop their guards.
