Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted he was “nervous” before making his second debut for Man Utd over the weekend:
Ronaldo scored a brace against Newcastle United when their side won 4-1 at Old Trafford.
He said: “I didn’t expect to score two goals. I expect one, but not two. I have to appreciate the fans and what they did to me today. I’m so proud of that.
“The most important thing was to win and win games. Manchester [United] have to be where they deserve to be. It’s about winning, building the team and building the club and the mentality.
“That’s what we’re looking for. Of course I’m happy to score goals, I won’t deny that, but the most important thing is that the team and the squad played well.
“It’s amazing. When I started the game I was so nervous, I swear it. Usually because I didn’t expect them to sing my name for the whole game. I was very nervous, but maybe I didn’t but it was I. The welcome is amazing but I’m here to win games and help the team.
