Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has suggested the club could still sign Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland even after Cristiano Ronaldo returns.
Haaland, 21, is one of the most exciting and sought-after footballers in the world.
The Norwegian has scored 65 goals in 65 games since signing for Borussia Dortmund, a pretty insane record for a player of his tender age who plays in one of the more competitive leagues in Europe.
Since Man United’s two natural options are in their mid-thirties, Edinson has Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo , the club should find itself on the market for a new striker.
ESPN reported this month that Haaland is high on Man United’s priority list for summer 2022.

Former Red Devil Luke Chadwick speaks exclusively Caught offside, has revealed his belief that as Haaland is working with Ronaldo, the deal COULD come about, not out of the realm of possibility.
“I think you wouldn’t be trading Ronaldo for anyone this season,” said Chadwick. “But I understand that Haaland would likely sign a five- / six-year contract and hopefully do so over that period.”
“We’ll see how Cristiano develops this season. There is still the option [to sign Haaland]I don’t think Haaland would ever go anywhere this summer so maybe this opportunity still exists.
“The way Haaland talks about Cristiano too could be part of a master plan that he’ll come up with next summer.”
The thought of Ronaldo and Haaland at the helm seems like a little dream in the sky, but the stars could line up over Manchester.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a pre-existing relationship with Haaland and his relatives, with Man United clearly in need of a striker who offers a long-term solution in attack.
The only question mark, and it’s pretty big, would be whether the club would be willing to negotiate with Agent Mino Raiola.
If they put their contempt aside and sat at the negotiating table with Raiola and Haaland, Chadwick could well make his dream of superstar Man United a reality.
