Africa World Cup Qualifiers Recap: Nigeria Recovers, Beats CAR; Uganda, Tanzania win

Nigeria bounced back from their shocking midweek defeat, beating the Central African Republic 2-0 and moving up to the top of Group C in the hunt for a World Cup spot next year.

The Super Eagles suffered a shocking 1-0 loss to the Central African nation on Wednesday but recovered in Douala thanks to goals from Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen.

Uganda and Mali will battle it out for Group E singles in the next World Cup qualifying round after winning their games in the fourth round on Sunday.

Uganda beat neighboring Rwanda 1-0 in Kampala, with Fahad Bayo scoring the only goal that gave the Cranes their second win in a row.

In Nairobi, the Harambee Stars’ hopes of reaching it next year were dashed after their 1-0 loss to Mali.

After the 5-0 win on Wednesday, it was the second loss in a row against the West African nation.
