Manchester United defender Raphael Varane must be injured in the UEFA Nations League final.
The incident that was causing the problem looked harmless as Varane simply cut out a routine cross. However, immediately after his kicking foot hit the ground, he winced uncomfortably.
Varane then continued for about a minute before Hugo Lloris could throw the ball out just before the break for treatment. According to estimates, Varane was then replaced in the 42nd minute by Dayot Upamecano from Bayern Munich.
While we won’t know the prediction until after he’s been properly rated, losing the Frenchman for a period of time would be a big blow with a tough streak of games coming up over the next few weeks.
They start with a trip to Leicester City on Saturday before hosting Atalanta in the Champions League mid-week.
This is followed by two tricky Premier League matches against Liverpool and Tottenham in consecutive weeks.
Varane has been on the United squad since moving from Real Madrid in the summer and his fitness level, playing seven games in all competitions.
His partner Harry Maguire is also currently suffering from a knock as the problem keeps him away from duty in England during the current international break.
United are very much hoping that both first choice center-backs will fully recover before the Leicester game as they currently have poor results list. They won just one of their four pre-break games, with that win thanks to a last-minute goal from Cristiano Ronaldo against Villarreal in the Champions League.
Previously, they were kicked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham. In the league, Aston Villa defeated them 1-0 at Old Trafford, while Everton held them to a 1-1 home draw.
