Thibaut Courtois has approached the football authorities after Belgium’s defeat in the playoffs for third place in the UEFA Nations League against Italy.
Courtois criticized UEFA for allowing the two teams to play for a bronze medal in the run-up to the game, calling the game “pointless”.
Even more devastating after his team suffered a 2-1 defeat, he targeted the forces concerned with the well-being of the players.
“This game is just a money game and we have to be honest,” said Courtois.
“We just play it because it means extra money for UEFA. Look at how much both teams have changed” [lineups]. If both teams had been in the final, other players would have played in the final.
“It just goes to show that we play too many games.”
Courtois continued his criticism during the post-game interview, pointing to the hypocrisy of the UEFA and FIFA opposition to the Super League.
“She [UEFA] made an extra trophy [UEFA Conference League]… It’s always the same, ”he said.
“They can get mad when other teams want a Super League but they don’t care about the players, they just care about their pockets.
“It’s a bad thing that players are not talked about. And now you hear about an EM and a World Cup every year, when do we rest? Never.”
He added, “So in the end, top players are going to get injured and injured and injured. It’s something that should be much better and much better taken care of.”
“We are not robots! It’s just more and more games and less rest for us and nobody cares about us.
“Next year we have a World Cup in November, we have to play again until the end of June. We’ll get injured! Nobody cares about the players anymore.”
“Three weeks of vacation are not enough to be able to continue playing at the highest level for 12 months. If we never say anything, then [will be] always the same. “
