Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has revealed that he is learning a lot from the central defenders of Juventus and his national team-mates Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.
He was a partner to both defenders on the Italian team and played an important role as the Azzurri finished third in the Nations League final today.
He stood alongside Bonucci in the semi-finals against Spain and was paired with Francesco Acerbi in today’s third place match against Belgium.
Both Juventus veterans are nearing the end of their playing careers and Roberto Mancini appears to be preparing Bastoni to replace them.
The 22-year-old is not wasting his chance either and has learned from it.
After Italy beat Belgium 2-1 today, he spoke to the media saying they were happy to have won the game and that he was happy to play at the time.
He then spoke about the Juventus defenders and said he was learning a lot from the veteran duo.
“These are all important games, it’s good to play at this level and to be on this stage for Italy,” Bastoni told RAI Sport Soccer Italy.
“We all take care of these events and are happy to have won.”
Adding to his defensive partners, “I’ve spent the euros behind legends like Chiellini and Bonucci, I learn so much from them. You give me a big hand. “
