Chelsea are reportedly having informal talks over a surprise transfer return for Real Madrid flop Eden Hazard.
The Belgium international is a Chelsea legend after a great career at Stamford Bridge between 2012 and 2019, but his form has deteriorated dramatically since his big move to the Bernabeu two years ago.
It remains to be seen whether most blues fans really want Hazard back in his current state, but El Nacional claim Roman Abramovich is keen to re-sign the player he believes will again become one of the best in the world could if he returned to west London.
The report claims Chelsea have already had some informal talks about Hazard’s return and it is fair to imagine Madrid happily letting the stricken 30-year-old go.
Chelsea could do well to improve their attacking potential now as the club appear to have never really replaced Hazard since he left.
Big names like Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech joined them, but nobody really set the world on fire, and it might well be worthwhile to bring this proven talent back.
Hazard certainly didn’t lose all of his talent overnight and it might be worthwhile to revive his career and solve a problem position in Thomas Tuchel’s squad in the process.
