Gianni Infantino, President of the World Football Administration, has fond memories of his visit to Nigeria last month where he met His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR; the first lady, Dr. (Wife) Aisha Buhari and; a gathering of dignitaries in the Nigerian political and football space.
In a letter addressed personally to the President of the Nigerian Football Association and FIFA Councilor, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, dated October 6, 2021, the world footballer rejoiced over his meetings and the organization of the first edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football Tournament and the positive visibility and immense quality that Pinnick represents for Nigeria in the global football hemisphere.
“On behalf of the entire FIFA delegation, we would like to thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality on the occasion of our recent visit to Nigeria on September 15th and 16th. During this two day visit we shared many important moments. Among the highlights were certainly the audiences with HE Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as with the First Lady HE Ms. Aisha Buhari in Abuja, the opening game of the Aisha Buhari Cup 2021, in which we participated together and the wonderful dinner that was organized in Lagos.
