Walcott praises his “incredible” former Arsenal teammate for making his “job” easy

Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has reached out to former team-mate Oliver Giroud to tell him he is an “incredible player”.

Giroud spent five and a half years with the Gunners. They paid a fee of around £ 10 million to sign him from Montpellier.

The Frenchman was underestimated while at Arsenal. In his 253 appearances for North London, he scored 105 goals.

During his time at the club, he won the FA Cup three times between 2013 and 2017. During the 2018 winter transfer window, he moved to London rival Chelsea.

After a few successful years at Stamford Bridge, he moved to AC Milan this summer on a free transfer. He has scored two goals from his three Serie A games so far this season.

As quoted by HITC, Giroud recently appeared on talkSPORT. Walcott texted the show to tell his former teammate that he was doing his “job” at. made it easy arsenal:

“Incredible player to play with, he made my job easy,” said Walcott.

Giroud replied: “I felt like we had such good times together at Arsenal. I wish we could win the league, that’s my only regret from the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea.

“I really enjoyed playing with him. He’s such a top footballer and a great man too.

“I think I play football so that people will remember me as a good player, but also as a good person. And it’s great to meet people like that. “

Elsewhere, ex-Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has insisted that he “still has to prove something” before retiring:

“Right now I’m doing my coaching badges and the club is helping me with it, and I am also helping some of the Academy kids.

“It’s definitely something I enjoy and maybe something I should watch in the future, but right now I still want to play.

“I have the feeling that I still have a lot to give and something to prove, which is why I don’t want to stop now and start a career as a coach.

“It’s nice to see some old faces again, with whom I have spent a large part of my life.

“I’m getting there in terms of fitness and it’s great to be able to train with good players again and the quality will only be an advantage for me as I move forward.
