Injury update: Spurs without Cristian Romero & Lo Celso ahead of Leeds United clash

Tottenham Hotspur will miss Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso for Sunday’s game against Leeds United as the club continue to suffer from another uncomfortable international break.

Romero, 23, suffered a hamstring injury in Argentina’s goalless draw with Brazil on Wednesday and the young defender started Antonio Conte’s first two games as Tottenham manager.

Conte also confirmed on Friday that Romero’s international teammate Lo Celso has returned to the club with a lower level of fitness.

Conte said: “It’s bad news about Romero and his injury. I’ve spoken to the doctors and now we’re waiting seven to ten days for another scan to understand the time it will take for him to recover.

“Also, Lo Celso didn’t come back in perfect physical shape. I don’t know if it will be available (for Sunday). Romero is certainly not available, Lo Celso I don’t know.

A mention of Ndombele:

The Italian added: “I’ve seen a lot of managers struggle with this situation and position. Tanguy sure has the quality. At the same time, he has to understand that there is a team and he has to play into the team.

“I think it means the important thing is to keep order and do what the position tells you to do.

“In my football I have an idea and that idea has tasks for the players. Every single player needs to know what to do. Otherwise, if every player is just walking around on the pitch I think it will be a mess.
