Tuchel gives the Chelsea duo an injury update after their “amazing” win against Juve

Thomas Tuchel gave an injury update on two important Chelsea stars after his team’s “amazing” performance against Juventus in the Champions League.

Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner all scored a sweeping 4-0 victory to sink the Italian giants and march imperiously Chelsea in the last 16.

The defending champion beat an outclassed Juve, Chelsea secured their place in the knockout phase, but also overtook their Serie A rivals at the top of Group H.

Equal or better result for Juve in the last set of the round robin games in early December and the Blues will lead the group.

Chelsea’s only concern on a rough night in west London proved injury fears for N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell, both of whom hobbled out of action well ahead of time.

Speak with BT Sport After the game, Tuchel said: “We wanted to be patient, but not fall asleep at the same time. We wanted to increase the rhythm and the intensity. It’s so hard to create and score, but we’ve created so much. A great performance and a fantastic result.

“We were sharper than in Turin, we took more risks, we missed that in Turin. You can’t injure it through control – you have to get in with runs from the ball. We were very good and scored nice goals.

“I am very aware that we are doing the invisible work and when we have to defend we defend and really dig ourselves in.”

Regarding Chilwell and Kante’s injuries: “Ben has severe pain in his knee. N’Golo twisted his knee a little.

“You will both be examined tomorrow. It’s very sad things because N’Golo was very good before he went and Chilly was in a fantastic moment.

Juve are lucky enough to collect only four

Meanwhile, blues visual midfielder Joe Cole believes Juve were fortunate enough to concede just four.

He also told BT Sport: “Juventus will get on the plane and be happy that there were only four. That was an improvement on what I saw against Leicester on Saturday.

“You remember that Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner didn’t start. That’s £ 150m worth of talent and they’re still scoring four goals behind Juventus.

“You are starting to run out of words. At the top of the Premier League, at the top of its Champions League group, European champions and with a team full of academy graduates.
