Not all too long ago the roles between these two familiar foes would have been reversed. But it is testament to just how far Arsenal have come under Arteta, and how far Chelsea have fallen in the past two seasons, that the gulf between these two teams is now so big.

Chelsea were happy to let Havertz go to their London rivals last summer to fund this project that owners Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and company have taken the team on since their acquisition of the team, and certainly more than a few eyebrows were raised when Arsenal opted to splash around £65m on a player who had netted just seven Premier League goals in 35 appearances the season prior while acting as his team’s main centre-forward.
