Qualifying for the UEFA Champions League appears out of the question, and they are now in a battle even to finish in the top eight positions in the table.

United's recent performances have led to real concern among fans and pundits. They have made a habit of conceding a high number of shots at goal while looking short on inspiration in attack themselves, and if things do not improve in the final few weeks of the season, there is no guarantee Ten Hag will still be in the job for the start of 2024/25.

However, the Dutch manager will get some reprieve on April 21 when United turn their attentions to the one remaining trophy they can still win this season — one that could also offer an alternate route into European football for next term.
