Man City defenders miss training ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester City defenders John Stones and Kyle Walker are at risk of missing the huge clash with Arsenal on Sunday after picking up injuries during the international break.

The duo both missed City's training session on Thursday and now fears have grown as to whether they will be fit to face the Gunners in the crucial top of the Premier League table clash.

Stones and Walker reported for international duty with England, where they were set to face Brazil and Belgium in friendly matches. However, Walker was forced off the pitch after just 20 minutes against Brazil with concerns over a potential hamstring injury.

The England captain limped off and was unable to play in the next game against Belgium.

Following England's 1-0 loss to Brazil, manager Gareth Southgate said: «We don't know yet, he's feeling something. He's not a player who's been injured very often so he's not quite certain what it is. So we just have to assess it over the next couple of days.»

Stones' injury came against Belgium on Tuesday night when he left the pitch with a suspected adductor problem. He's had less time to recover than Walker, but it is still unknown as to whether he'll be on the pitch when Premier League duties return on Sunday.

Addressing the injury, Southgate said: «Of course, we are disappointed if he’s got a problem. It seems to be in the adductor area so we’ll have to wait and see.

»John also came in on the back of not having played for two weeks, so it is not an overload situation. I hate sending players back to their clubs if they are not fully fit."
