Michael McIntyre shares Adelphi Hotel complaint during Liverpool gig

Michael McIntyre has spoke of "fond memories" of Liverpool - including an unwanted early morning wakeup call while staying in the Adelphi Hotel.

Speaking to the ECHO, ahead of his MACNIFICENT stand-up world tour coming to the M&S Bank Arena, the comedian praised the city for its comedy offering. Recently, the city saw the renowned Hot Water Comedy Club move into its new home in the £7 million Blackstock Market, complete with food hall, bars and events space.

He said: "I’ve always loved performing in Liverpool and it seems to be becoming a bit of the comedy capital at the moment with incredibly successful comedy clubs that people are loving. I can’t wait to get up there this weekend."

The award-winning performer, who was the highest-grossing stand-up comedian in the world in 2012, recalled "fond memories" of the city, saying it was where he got his first ever paid gig. Michael added: "[I performed] at a place called the Life Cafe.

Michael said: "I remember I stayed at the Adelphi Hotel and phoned reception in the early hours of the morning to complain about loud music coming from the next door room and rather than helping they suggested I 'have a dance!'"
