Arsenal won’t win anything “anytime soon,” claims Premier League striker Ivan Toney

Arsenal won’t win anything “anytime soon” as they are “not the best” at the moment, said Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

So far this season, Arsenal have only scored one win from their first four Premier League games. They lost their first three games before beating Norwich City 1-0 over the weekend.

Previously, the Gunners were convincingly beaten by Chelsea and Manchester City.

On the opening day, Arsenal met newly promoted Brentford. The Bees prevailed against their London rivals thanks to goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard.

Arsenal has been linked to Toney in the last few months. The striker said it Shooting talk YouTube channel that the Gunners are no longer the team they used to be:

“Arsenal fans are going to beat me up for this, but you are watching Arsenal right now and they are not the best.

“There was a difference [between the Championship and the Premier League], don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t crazy like, if you make a mistake it’ll end up in the back of the goal.

“I didn’t really see that. They were good at holding the ball, but that didn’t really affect us.

“You weren’t as crazy as I thought [they would be]. I don’t know if it was like that [whether] they weren’t that good or we were just excited because it was our first game and it was Arsenal and Premier League [and] all of these things come into the picture.

“I just didn’t see them the way they used to be. You always looked at Arsenal and thought [they were] crazy and they wanted to win this game, win this game.

“Nowadays I don’t see that they won’t win anything anytime soon.”

Elsewhere, Danny Murphy has suggested that Arteta “go over the board” as Arsenal head coach:

“He’s going over the plank, I think.

“I like him. I like the way he performs, I like his humility, I like his work ethic, but in the end it doesn’t get you very far.

“You have to make a winning team with what you have and he has some good players, it’s not that he has a squad full of clothes – he has some really talented guys in there.

“I know they had some injuries and I was trying to find patience as to why it didn’t go well.

“You should be in a better position than you are. The next few weeks are key, the next games.

“But I just don’t see enough in the team. In the way they play for him, to keep up a challenge for the big boys.
