Former Black Stars CEO Yaw Boateng Gyan wants the government and the Ghana FA to break the bank to take over the services of the former Moroccan national coach.
The Ghana FA terminated the contract of Charles Kwabla Akonnor together with his two deputies on Monday after Ghana’s uninspiring performances against Ethiopia and South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualification.
The Ghana FA changed direction at its executive board meeting on Monday after the Black Stars’ review and performance in their last two games to appoint a new coach.
A three-person committee headed by the Vice President of the Ghana FA, Mark Addo, was tasked with appointing a new coach over the next 72 hours.
Regarding the Frenchman’s proposed appointment, Yaw Boateng Gyan insisted that Ghana must afford Renard’s salary if the country is to earn laurels.
“We should be able to hire Herve Renard, who makes $ 100,000 in Saudi Arabia if the speculation is correct. If we can’t pay a lot of money for a good or competent coach for the vacant coaching job, then we’re not prepared for laurels, ”he said.
The Frenchman has been suggested by many Ghanaians as the right man to coach the Black Stars after coach Akonnor was sacked on Monday night.
Renard, the current coach of Saudi Arabia and a longtime admirer of the Black Stars, led Zambia and Ivory Coast to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
After Akonnor’s sacking, many Ghanaians are proposing to appoint the French to change the fate of the Black Stars during 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
He is also considered the man who can help Ghana win the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in four months, just as he did in Zambia and Ivory Coast.
