7 Senegalese at kick-off

The 2021/2022 season of the Champions League starts this Tuesday with the first day of the group stage. Seven Senegalese take part in this competition.

The 2021/2022 Champions League is the 67th edition of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup. 80 European clubs take part in this major competition, including those that played the preliminary rounds. This year there will be 7 Senegalese at the start, even if all eyes are on Spain with the clash between FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich this evening. These are Boulaye Dia (Villarreal), Cheikh Niasse (Lille), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea), Sadio Mané (Liverpool), Ballo Touré (AC Milan) and Gana Gueye and Abdou Diallo (PSG). Dia, Niasse and Mendy play this Tuesday as opposed to the others who start the race on Wednesday.
