Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal for Chelsea in the 1-0 win over Zenit St. Petersburg in the Champions League.
The Blues were frustrated in the first half as Zenit defended well and kept them in check. Thomas Tuchel’s men, who want to defend the trophy they won in May, did not manage to hit a single shot.
Whatever the German said to his players during the break worked as the high-profile team came out much better in the second half. Hakim Ziyech saw a defense with his left foot before Antonio Rüdiger missed a shot after an attack run.
Lukaku then joined Chelsea to score his fourth goal of the season in as many games. Cesar Azpilicueta picked up the ball on the right and made a low cross that Lukaku headed from close range in the 69th minute.

The home side didn’t quite have it their way, however. Sardar Azmoun played a ball across the goal that should have been tipped by substitute Artem Dzyuba. The Russian international didn’t get enough contact and instead clashed with Edouard Mendy.
The Blues held the ball for most of the final stages, claiming their first Group H win.
