The German side, however, was insensitive to all threats from Besiktas.
Ersin Destanoğlu prevented Dortmund’s second goal within 28 minutes when he sprinted from his line to defeat Dortmund captain Marco Reus with a reactionary parade.
The away team tore Sergan Yalçın’s HT tactic to pieces in stoppage time in the first half as Haaland was in the right place at the right time to make his 15 th in his last eleven UCL group stage games. Vigor and creativity opened up the defense.
On 57 minutes, Besiktas were close to reducing the deficit when Atiba Hutchinson missed his volley implausibly, while Gregor Kobel was on the point to the horror of the home team.
After a long evening in which Borussia Dortmund had rejected their threats, some players who were brought in from the Turkish side turned the tide just before the final whistle.
Francisco Montero scored the consolation goal with a magnificent header after a tempting free-kick from Miralem Pjanić, who gave Kobel no chance in stoppage time.
