Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Timo Werner, who is currently on Chelsea’s books.
The Tyneside Club recently saw a £$ 300 million acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
They have been linked to several high profile players since then, with new owners keen to bolster the ranks in the January transfer window.
Now after Picture reporter Christian Falk, the magpies are very interested in signing the highly rated striker Timo Werner.
The arrival of Romelu Lukaku, who has joined the Blues in a deal worth around £97.5 meters from Inter Milan, the German international has pushed the pecking order at Stamford Bridge down.
The 25-year-old managed only three starts in the Premier League this season under Thomas Tuchel.
Timo Werner moved from RB Leipzig to Chelsea in summer 2020 after the Londoners activated his £47.5 million exit clause.
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, he has made 60 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 16 assists (statistics from Transfermarkt).
Newcastle can afford to spend a huge fee to get the German’s signature as they have the league’s richest owners.
However, the 25-year-old is said to be staying in London and fighting for his place.
The Magpies are expected to make rapid progress but it could take some time to reach the level of other top Premier League clubs.
