Bastian Schweinsteiger suggests to Man Utd after the defeat against Liverpool that there is a lack of “philosophy and vision”

Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said he was “not surprised” by Liverpool’s 5-0 beating at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The Red Devils suffered their worst home defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon and surrendered to a sold-out crowd when Jurgen Klopp’s men stood up and Mohamed Salah stole the headlines after helping himself to the game ball.

The Merseysiders were two for good in just 13 minutes, leading 4-0 at break, with decibel levels rising as Anthony Taylor whistled at half time and a chorus of boos echoed across the floor. Salah ended the defeat – and his hat trick – shortly after restarting.

Naby Keita first broke the impasse five minutes after the start of the competition before Diogo Jota – selected before Sadio Mane – doubled Liverpool’s lead eight minutes later. Salah then scored a brace before the break and became the first Premier League player to score a hat trick in the 50th minute at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba compensated for the misery by receiving a red card 20 minutes after his introduction, ending a miserable afternoon for the hosts and seriously increasing the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose position looks slightly untenable after this sobering defeat.

After the game, experts, former players, fans and analysts alike quickly digested the bones of one of football’s most notable competitions, including Schweinsteiger who gave his two cents on the current state of this Man Utd team.
