Making new friends can feel terrifying, especially when you are dumped in a new city miles away from your home.

For me, the thing that made me most anxious about moving to Liverpool was the idea of having to make new friends. 'How do you meet new friends as an adult?', is something I kept asking myself. That was when someone told me about Girls on the Go.

Girls on the Go has taken Instagram by storm, it makes meeting friends a whole lot easier. The group was set up six months ago by Steph, who recently moved to the city from Geneva and her best friend Caitlin. It has since taken off into a whole female power movement, inspiring hundreds of girls, not only in Liverpool but across the country to get out and meet new friends.

For me, I think it is the perfect way for me to get out and experience this amazing city I now call my home.

The group started after Steph graduated university and jumped straight into a remote working job - she found herself not seeing people for sometimes weeks - and quite sad by it - she met up with her best friend Caitlin and set up a beginners running group to help girls feel less isolated.

But running wasn't enough. They set out to tackle isolation for girls in Liverpool with weekly girly events to help people like us, make new friends. Their first group run started with 20 girls and now hundreds of girls turn up each week to take part in activities.
