Lord of the Rings star who pulled out of Comic Con confirms return

Comic Con is set to return to the city in November, with a host of stars lined up to appear.

The most recent Comic Con was held earlier this month at the Exhibition Centre on King's Dock. As part of the convention, the Pier Head was flooded with cosplayers, sci-fi and fantasy fans and plenty of special guests.

At May's Comic Con, fans of film franchise Lord of the Rings got to meet a number of cast members, including Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan, who played Frodo and Merry in the award-winning films. Bernard Hill, who played Théoden, King of Rohan, was set to appear at the convention, but died just days after he cancelled his appearance at the event.

Miranda Otto, who played Éowyn in the trilogy, had to pull out of May's Comic Con due to ill health. However, the star has now confirmed she will attend November's convention. Australian actress Miranda is also known for playing a cult leader on the Disney+ drama series The Clearing, and for starring in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Commenting after the early May event, a spokesperson said: "Liverpool WE DID IT! The impossible dream for me has come true. Tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world alongside Hollywood’s biggest stars, came to Liverpool for a pop culture extravaganza which has taken over the city and gripped the region for an unforgettable 3 days.
