Harvey Elliott’s shocking ankle injury in the 3-0 Leeds win stunned the Liverpool squad, and after that the 18-year-old’s teammates wished him a speedy recovery.
Goals from Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane earned the Reds a big win on Elland Road, who kept the pace at the top of the Premier League.
But an awkward duel by Pascal Struijk at the hour left Elliott writhing in pain and Salah called for urgent medical attention, with the midfielder then being pulled away.
Elliott gave a positive update on his way to the hospital, but Jürgen Klopp accepted that it was a “bad injury” after the win and revealed that his No. 67 had suffered a dislocated ankle.
The severity of Elliott’s injury is unclear at this point and the hope is that it won’t be as bad as initially feared, but either way, it’s a blow to the player and club.
It is certainly not the first serious injury Liverpool has suffered in recent seasons and the squad quickly rallied to send a direct message to Elliott on social media: “We’re all with you.”
Great result and performance against a strong side. However, it was horrible to see Harvey sustaining such an injury…. Thoughts are with him and I know he will have all the support he needs to come back even stronger! We’re all here for you, buddy! ?? pic.twitter.com/TdWtLh4WaK

Curtis Jones and Neco Williams are two players who are particularly close to Elliott, and the midfielder wished his “little brother” all the best:
My little brother !!! Am i devastated for you? We are all by your side. Fast and healthy recovery. Love my brother !! #YNWA ?????? https://t.co/luVBpN5sX2

It wasn’t just the Liverpool squad who paid tribute to the teen after the scenes on Elland Road, including Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling who put the “rivalry” aside:
Ahhhh man rivalry aside, that looks really mean, nobody wants to see that, thoughts are with you Harvey @LFC
– Marcus Rashford MBE (@MarcusRashford) September 12, 2021
Wish you a speedy recovery Harvey Elliott ?? pic.twitter.com/VTwad30e07
– Raheem Sterling (@ sterling7) September 12, 2021
Former players also joined the congratulators, with Jamie Carragher regretting three valuable points that were “overshadowed” by a “disgusting injury”:
Brilliant result & performance by @LFC but unfortunately overshadowed by the disgusting injury of Harvey Elliott, child with quick recovery ????

I hope this isn’t as bad an injury for Harvey Elliott as it seems. Didn’t look like a bad challenge or red card at normal pace, but it’s hard to be sure without repetitions. Just a freak accident, I guess.

Can not believe it!! All the best, Harvey Elliott, you are coming back even stronger very soon.#YNWA

No pro player should or would celebrate a rival injury, but it is warming to see Elliott pay tribute after a severe setback.
The youngster has had a promising start to life for the Liverpool first team, with Sunday marking his third Premier League start, and hopefully he can make a full recovery and continue his climb on Anfield.
