Manchester United travel to Watford on Saturday afternoon as the Premier League resumes after the international break.
It has not been easy for the Hornets since Claudio Ranieri took over the helm. Aside from a thrilling 5-2 win at Everton in his second game as coach, Watford lost 5-0 to Liverpool and lost 1-0 to both Southampton and Arsenal. Located in a precarious 17th place, Saturday is an opportunity to score another big win against a United side that is in top form.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is currently sixth in the Premier League, is under a lot of pressure. Two wins out of the last seven in all competitions just weren’t good enough.
During this time the Red Devils were humiliated by Liverpool and completely dominated on Manchester City home soil.

Midfielder Juraj Kucka will miss United’s visit following his double booking with Arsenal last time around.
Ozan Tufan is doubtful about Saturday’s clash as he made a mistake in the international match with Turkey – but if he’s fit he will certainly start in midfield.
Kwadwo Baah and Ken Sema both had to withdraw from their respective international camps, while the long-term absent Peter Etebo and Christian Kabasele will certainly take a break.

Paul Pogba would be out of competition if he was fit while serving the third and final game of his three-game suspension. However, the Frenchman is out for much longer after sustaining a thigh injury in the international match and traveling to Dubai to recover.
He joins Raphael Varane on the treatment table, while Edinson Cavani could also be absent. The Uruguayan missed the international match after missing the Manchester derby with a tendon problem.
Luke Shaw, who failed to qualify for England’s World Cup despite a concussion, is doubtful but could be ready on Saturday. Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay could also become active again, as they both missed international appearances due to illness.

As you’d expect, United dominates the history of this game. Of the 35 matches between the two teams, the Red Devils have won 24, while Watford can only boast six wins.
Recent history doesn’t make a better read either. The Hornets have only won once in their last eight games, despite the fact that they did when they last met on Vicarage Road during the 2019-20 season. United have won the other seven times and only lost twice to their opponents on Saturday in 34 years.
Don’t expect the outcome pattern to change this weekend. Granted, both teams come into the game in poor form, but the simply superior quality United can show should be more than enough to get them back on the road to winning ways on Saturday.
Ranieri’s introduction appeared to have lifted Watford a lot after their successful visit to Goodison Park, although two straight defeats show that there is still much to be done at the club.
Solskjaer isn’t much more resilient, although the creativity and class that oozes from the squad has been enough to keep the team in the race for European football. The performances were not good, the results were not good and the current atmosphere in the club was not good.
Despite these obvious problems, however, there is a trip to Vicarage Road should give three points.
Prediction: Watford 1-3 Manchester United
