'Feels like the end' - Jamie Carragher delivers brutal Liverpool title admission after Everton defeat

Jamie Carragher has explained why Liverpool's hopes of winning the Premier League title are over after the defeat to Everton.

The Reds fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Blues in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park. Goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin secured the three points for Everton - and handed Liverpool a disappointing defeat.

The result leaves the Reds in second place in the table and three points behind leaders Arsenal with just four fixtures left to play in Jurgen Klopp's final season at the club. Manchester City are in third place and just one point behind Liverpool with two games in hand.

Liverpool have now lost two of their last three Premier League fixtures to lose significant ground in the title race. And Carragher believes that the defeat at the hands of the Blues has confirmed they are no longer in the running to be crowned champions this term.

"In terms of wanting it more, it’s Everton’s night," Carragher told Sky Sports. "It’s not been easy and you have seen their record in derby games so you have to accept that as a Liverpool fan.

"This is the end of the title run for Liverpool. It almost feels like the end. They just have to make sure they finish the season strong.

"They had enough chances in the game. At the moment, they are not clinical enough in both boxes.
